Unit & Facility Overview
Nantucket Cottage Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, serves the Nantucket island community located approximately 30 miles at sea. With more than 300 staff members, the hospital provides care to a year-round population of over 15,000 residents and supports up to 100,000 additional seasonal visitors each year.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to women throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status and promptly identify changes in condition.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries as appropriate.
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to established protocols.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families throughout the childbirth experience.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, pediatric providers, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Accurately document assessments and patient care in Epic.
- Respond appropriately to obstetric emergencies and follow established safety protocols.
- Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care in the L&D setting.
