Job Summary Labor and Delivery (L&D) Specialist located in Sacramento. This position involves providing high-quality care during labor, delivery, and postpartum, with a focus on emergency preparedness and independent working skills. The role requires coordination with a team to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes in a busy maternal and newborn unit.
Job Details
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with rotations every other weekend, totaling a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (AFM), American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
Responsibilities include managing standard labor and delivery cases, working independently in emergency situations, and ensuring patient safety.
Additional qualifications include flexibility to work independently and work well under emergency conditions.
Orientation: 2-3 days on the floor with a preceptor, relating to obstetric and newborn care.
Typical caseload includes approximately 45 deliveries per month, involving standard and preterm deliveries, term pregnancies, and new mothers with short-term neonatal needs.
The unit is equipped with Cerner for charting, and there are no in-house intensivist or hospitalist physicians during the night.
