Job Summary: Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse position is located in a high-risk obstetric unit specializing in couplet care for a facility with approximately 140-165 births monthly. The role involves managing patients from start to finish, including circulating cesarean sections, and requires the ability to adapt to various responsibilities within the units fast-paced environment. Shifts are 12 hours, beginning at 6:45 AM, with a rotation of every other weekend and holiday work.

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, starting at 6:45 AM, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Overtime and extra shifts are available.
Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN-Advanced certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent obstetric nursing experience; current OB nursing license; ability to float to other Sacramento facilities; experience circulating cesarean sections; minimum of 1 year of recent OB experience; must be able to read and interpret maternal EKG strips.
Preferred Qualifications: STABLE certification; experience in high-risk obstetrics, including preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, hypertension, and cesarean sections.
Additional Information: Must follow AWHONN (Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) guidelines for ratios, with a typical ratio of 1:3-4 couplets, 1:1-2 for labor/delivery, and 1:1-3 for antepartum patients. The unit has in-house neonatal and obstetric hospitalists 24/7, with available anesthesia and neonatal on call. Complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) systems are deployed. The role includes managing fetal scans using GE Corometric monitors, circulating cesarean sections, and performing nursing duties across the full scope of obstetric care.
