Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Austin, Texas. This position involves providing specialized care in the labor and delivery unit, supporting high-volume maternity services. The role requires expertise in obstetric care, including C-section circulation and process competencies, to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week, with alternating weekend coverage. No call requirement.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), AWHONN (The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses); 2+ years of experience in Labor and Delivery; SVE (Sterile Vaginal Examination) competency; C-Section circulation; minimum of 0 years of experience (up to 2 years preferred).
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Level IV high-volume units; internal monitor placement competency; prior employment in similar settings.
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 during shifts.
- Unit Description: A busy Labor and Delivery unit with 32 beds and a staff of 150, staffed with a team of charge and co-charge nurses during both day and night shifts. Key procedures include spontaneous vaginal deliveries, cerclages, cesarean sections, and TOLAC (Trial of Labor After Cesarean).
- Equipment Used: Novii, JADA, fetal pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco, US.
- Dress Code: Solid blue or gray sweatshirts only; navy blue scrubs; T-shirts not acceptable.
- Additional Information: The unit emphasizes team-oriented care, utilizing advanced equipment and technology, with experienced staff committed to high standards of obstetric care.
