RNs float within Women's Services only:

- Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Postpartum
May float between regional facilities:
Float assignments remain within specialty.

Charge Nurse
- Present on every shift and every unit
Nurse Aides/Support Staff
- Surgical techs available
- Floor techs occasionally available depending on staffing
- Less support on night shift
Required Experience
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of experience
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum
- Antepartum
- No first-time travelers
Preferred
- OR circulating for C-sections

Patient Population
Antepartum
- 22+ weeks gestation
- High-risk pregnancies
Common Diagnoses
- PPROM
- Placenta previa
- Preeclampsia
- Diabetes
- Twins
- High-risk obstetrics
Postpartum
- Full couplet care assignments
- Car seat studies
Delivery/C-Section
- Travelers are not required to circulate C-sections
- Not expected to independently recover mom and transition newborn if NICU staff are unavailable
Medication & Drips
RN Titration

- Pitocin (commonly 1–20 units; may increase up to 40)
- Magnesium sulfate
- Insulin
Respiratory & Specialty Support
Respiratory Equipment

- NICU team attends deliveries

Monitoring
Telemetry
- No telemetry techs on unit
- Cardiac telemetry interpreted by telemetry technicians
- Fetal monitoring managed by obstetric staff
Scheduling

- Days: 0645–1930
- Nights: 1845–0730
- Four 12-hour shifts/week
