Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN required Must-Have: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting. Candidates must be able to circulate for cesarean sections. Description: The unit has a total of 7 labor and delivery beds and 14 mother-baby beds. It also has a level 2 NICU and nursery. There are 58 staff members on the unit. The day shift includes 6-8 Registered Nurses, 1 obstetrician, and 1 unit clerk. The night shift includes 5-8 Registered Nurses, 1 obstetrician, and 1 unit clerk. Patient ratios are 2:1 for labor and delivery, 6-8:1 for mother-baby, and 1-4:1 for NICU, depending on acuity. Typical equipment includes Alaris pumps, fetal monitors, and fluid warmers. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech Expanse and Centricity Perinatal. Candidates should be team players. Typical procedures performed on the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, induction of labor, IV insertion, lab draws, sterile vaginal exams, assistance with epidurals, and foley catheter placements.
