Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $1,930 per week in Salem, VA

Job Title: RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate FM or C-EFM, NRP Must-Have: Labor and delivery experience Strip interpretation Knowledge of common obstetrical medications Circulator experience in Cesarean sections PACU recovery experience for spinal anesthesia Antepartum triage experience Knowledge of common complications and treatments for obstetrical complaints Experience assisting with epidural placement Teamwork approach to patient care Description: The unit has 17 inpatient beds and 2 triage beds. Patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2. A secretary is present only on day shifts. There are no techs available on the unit. The types of equipment used include monitoring devices and a documentation system. Scheduling requires three 12-hour shifts per week. Floating policies apply to mother-baby and postpartum units. The unit focuses on patient experience through courtesy and respect. Advanced skills needed include performing external cephalic version and assisting during deliveries. Nursing responsibilities include IV insertion, lab draws, and blood administration. Knowledge of JADA and BAKRI is required. Nitrous administration experience is essential. Staff members should be prepared for huddles at the beginning of each shift. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of four per four-week schedule. The dress code consists of hospital-provided scrubs, which staff can change into on arrival. Unit policies and guidelines will be provided.
