Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate FM or C-EFM, NRP Must-Have: Labor and delivery experience Strip interpretation Knowledge of common OB medications Circulator experience in C/S PACU recovery experience for spinal anesthesia Antepartum triage Knowledge of common complications and treatments for obstetrical complaints Assist with epidural placement Teamwork approach to patient care Description: This position requires working in a fast-paced labor and delivery unit. Nurses will manage patients with varying levels of obstetrical complications. The unit comprises 17 inpatient beds and 2 triage beds. Patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2. There is a secretary on dayshift, but no techs are available. The type of equipment used includes Monica Novii, Ambulatory Monitors, and GE EFM. Documentation is done using Meditech and Centricity. Nurses are expected to float to postpartum as needed. Staff will adhere to patient experience requirements such as AIDET, courtesy, and respect. Advanced skills required include IV insertion, lab draws, and knowledge of specific equipment related to labor and delivery. Nurses will perform various procedures, including external cephalic version (ECV), cesarean sections, and vaginal deliveries. They will assist with vacuum or forceps deliveries as needed. Nurses should be prepared for huddles starting at 6:45. Candidates will work a schedule involving 3 shifts per week, including 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule. All staff are required to wear hospital-provided scrubs and change upon arrival and departure. The unit promotes a supportive teamwork environment focused on high-quality patient care.
