Job Description

Job Title: Staff RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Nurse Duration: 8 hours Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: Valid nursing license Certifications: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate, CPR required Must-Have: Strong interpersonal and communication skills Description: The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers and delegation of role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Demonstrates a willingness to understand others' perspectives without labeling or judging. Treats others with compassion and is personally engaged in providing patient and family-centered care. Takes responsibility for own words and actions and has the passion and courage to do the right thing. Delivers on promises and commitments and achieves excellence in all aspects through ethical and legal behavior. Uses resources wisely and respects the time and resources of patients, families, and peers. Provides quality care based on assessment needs and established plans of care. Offers education for patients and families from admission through the discharge process. Submits thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process. Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and changes in patient status. Administers medications and performs treatments accurately and safely. Implements physician orders as written and ensures equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care. Reports malfunctions to the proper department. May require frequent patient handling activity. Position requires the ability to regulate emotions and exercise self-control in the workplace. Must manage urgent situations calmly and communicate empathically with patients. Must display confidence while being assertive in interpersonal situations. Supervises and directs the work of assistive personnel in a professional manner. May experience stress related to time management challenges and working with individuals who may be in pain or confused. Position requires intact cognitive function in the areas of attention, memory, perception, and thought. Must prioritize work tasks when multiple issues need attention and possess keen observation and reporting skills. Strong organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential.
