Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Valid nursing license Certifications: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate required, CPR required Must-Have: Strong interpersonal and communication skills Description: The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers and delegation of role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Education: Associate degree in nursing is required; Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred. Previous nursing experience is preferred. Demonstrates empathy and a willingness to understand others’ perspectives, treating others with compassion. Takes responsibility for own words and actions; delivers on promises and commitments. Provides thorough, concise, and accurate documentation of the nursing process. Notifies the physician of pertinent observations and changes in patient status. Administers medications and performs treatments accurately and safely. Implements physician orders as written. Ensures that equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care. Position requires exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently. Requires the ability to regulate emotions and manage urgent situations calmly. Must be able to communicate empathically with patients and display confidence in interpersonal situations. Requires intact cognitive function in areas of attention, memory, and perception. Strong organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential.
