Join a dedicated team as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care setting located in Moses Lake, Washington. This role is integral to providing comprehensive care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, as well as their newborns. The facility is committed to delivering high-quality patient care within a supportive environment.
As a caregiver and care manager, the L&D RN will apply the full nursing process to a diverse patient population, ensuring optimal outcomes. This includes direct patient care, patient education, and the skillful delegation and supervision of other nursing and non-nursing staff to coordinate care effectively.
This is a 13-week contract assignment, offering an opportunity to contribute to a vital healthcare service while experiencing the community of Moses Lake.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, and cognitive status for mothers and newborns.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in accordance with established policies, procedures, and the nursing process.
Provide skilled nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, including monitoring fetal well-being, managing pain, and assisting with deliveries.
Educate patients and their significant others on health conditions, treatment plans, newborn care, and discharge instructions, assessing readiness for learning.
Accurately document all patient care activities, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records and/or paper processes, adhering to regulatory requirements.
Delegate patient care activities appropriately and supervise assigned nursing and non-nursing personnel, ensuring effective team coordination and patient care outcomes.
Function as a Charge Nurse when required, including patient assignment/re-assignment, coordinating admissions, discharges, and transfers, and supporting staff problem-solving.
Demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills in a dynamic clinical environment.
Maintain awareness of and sensitivity to patient and family rights, ensuring care is provided without discrimination.
Adhere to all safety requirements, including infection control, equipment safety, fire protocols, and safe lifting practices.
Engage in continuous professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current with best practices in Labor & Delivery.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Healthcare Provider (HCP) level certification from AHA or equivalent (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Advanced certification (required prior to the end of orientation and renewed every 2 years).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years).
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (required within 3 months of L&D training and renewed every 2 years).
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum one year of Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting.
Minimum one year of RN experience in a specialty nursing department, such as Labor & Delivery.
STABLE course completion.
Registered Nurse Certified (RN-C) in a specialty area.
