Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: 3-5 years in high acuity and high pace environment, preferred 5 years of high-risk experience. License: Active compact license required. Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS preferred, AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate preferred. Must-Have: Must have current supervisory references. Must pass clinical review. Candidates must be able to circulate and provide newborn care, including eye care and vitamin K injections. Prior charge experience required. Candidates must float to postpartum and antepartum as needed. Experience with EPIC electronic fetal monitoring needed. Travel experience required. Description: Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in high-risk labor and delivery settings. The unit does not accept first-time travelers. Candidates will work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. There is an average daily census of 15 patients and 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit features 31 rooms and 31 beds. CANDIDATES MUST CIRCULATE and provide newborn care, including eyes and vitamin K injections. Candidate experience is valued, and staffing will follow established guidelines. There are four operating rooms within the unit. Candidates must work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. The role includes functioning as a Baby Nurse during delivery and continuing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum. Candidates will assist with high-risk delivery and vaginal delivery. They will support breastfeeding and lactation, perform assessments, and manage various medications. Newborn assessments will include monitoring for hypoglycemia and performing APGAR scores. Candidates must manage pain assessment and treatment, including the use of anesthetics and IV therapies. Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams is expected. Candidates will provide care in alignment with established protocols and best practices.
