Description:
The Registered Nurse will provide care in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum settings.
Ratios for patient care will be 1:1 to 1:3.
Three years of experience in a similar role is required.
Community hospital experience is preferred, but first-timers are not accepted.
Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be assigned as needed.
There is a weekend rotation requirement of 4-6 weekend shifts, including two Fridays, per a six-week schedule.
One major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays are also required.
The nurse will manage various medications and administer treatments, including antihypertensives and magnesium sulfate therapy.
Fetal monitoring, recognition, and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns are expected.
Knowledge of postpartum care, including breastfeeding support and wound assessment, is essential.
Neonatal care procedures such as newborn assessment and metabolic screening will also be performed.
The role will involve the following skills:
Assisting with vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing high-risk deliveries.
Experience with pain management modalities, including epidural anesthesia and PCA (IV) administration, is important.
The nurse may perform triage of obstetrical patients and participate in antepartum care procedures.
Collaboration with various support services within the hospital is necessary.
Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required.
The Registered Nurse is expected to provide couplet care at all times.
Mandatory on-call shifts are required every six weeks.
Regular documentation and charting in the electronic health record system are expected.
