Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, NRP, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate EFM Must-Have: - Current certification in Advanced EFM / AWHONN Intermediate EFM - Experience in High-Risk OB - Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role Description: This is a contract position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. No call is required for this role. The unit has 12 labor delivery rooms, 5 antepartum beds, 4 obstetrical emergency department bays, and 3 operating rooms. There are 72 staff members including nursing, surgical technologists, and schedulers. Staffing ratios are 1:2, and up to 1:1 based on patient transition and acuity. The equipment utilized includes Alaris pumps and CADD epidural pumps. The electronic medical records used are CPN and Meditech. Permanent positions on the unit are available. Typical procedures performed include C-sections, spontaneous vaginal deliveries, dilation and curettage, dilation and evacuation, twin deliveries, scheduled and nonscheduled emergent hysterectomies, and massive transfusions. The best personality fit for this role is an engaged, motivated individual with a positive outlook. The dress code includes sky blue scrubs. The scheduling is self-scheduling, allowing for flexibility among team members. Staff members are highly engaged and team-oriented. Physicians maintain great relations with the staff. Management is actively involved and frequently rounds on night shifts and weekends.
