Description:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing direct patient care to a designated group of patients.
The position requires collaboration with leadership to adhere to the nursing scope of practice.
Responsibilities include data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.
The nurse will assess patients and families, recognizing normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities based on clinical experience.
A person-centered care approach is utilized in developing care plans and prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs.
The nurse will plan for patient care, effectively prioritizing both expected and unforeseen needs.
Involving patients and families in establishing care goals is essential.
Demonstration of critical thinking skills is required for making appropriate clinical decisions and addressing potential problems.
Competence in implementing technical skills for patient care is necessary.
The nurse is expected to stay current on policies and procedures and act as a resource to peers.
Interventions for achieving care goals should involve collaboration with the health team.
Facilitating connections between patients and families with other disciplines and services is necessary.
Floating to other departments may be required on a rotational basis.
Scheduling is determined by unit needs, with no weekend maximum and limited guarantees for block scheduling.
Candidates with specific day scheduling requirements will not be considered.
