Key Responsibilities of the Travel Nurse
- Provide direct care and monitoring throughout all stages of labor and childbirth.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency procedures.
- Administer medications, including epidurals, Pitocin, and pain management, as ordered.
- Monitor fetal heart tones, contractions, and maternal vital signs.
- Collaborate closely with OB/GYNs, midwives, anesthesiologists, and NICU staff.
- Educate and support patients and families during labor and postpartum recovery.
- Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to hospital policies and safety standards.
Requirements of the Travel Nurse
- Active Texas RN license (or compact eligible).
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- NRP and fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' recent L&D experience in a high-volume setting.
- Strong clinical judgment, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Comfortable managing both routine and high-risk deliveries.
