Description:
This position is for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse.
The nurse will provide care for childbearing women and newborns.
Patients include those in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn stages.
The facility is a high-risk perinatal center with a significant percentage of complex high-risk cases.
Approximately 150 births occur monthly.
The team operates two operating rooms for cesarean sections and postpartum D&Cs.
The nurse may assist with high-risk deliveries and support breastfeeding.
The patient ratio is 1:1 during the day shift.
Weekend shifts are required, with four shifts per four-week schedule.
The nurse will float within the hospital as needed.
Candidates should be willing to care for complex patients with multiple comorbidities.
Special information includes the need to circulate during cesarean sections.
The role includes various nursing skills such as pain management, triage of obstetrical patients, and postpartum care.
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support is available.
Overall, the role requires strong assessment skills and the ability to respond to critical situations effectively.
