Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) for a dynamic 12-week assignment at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care within a busy obstetrical unit, supporting patients through ante-partum, intra-partum, and post-partum phases, as well as caring for newborns and gynecological patients.
The L&D unit is equipped with 18 beds, including 3 Triage beds, 2 Antepartum beds, 2 Operating Rooms for C-sections, 3 Recovery beds, and 8 dedicated L&D beds. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, and will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team.
This position is ideal for a travel nurse seeking a challenging assignment, though local candidates residing within a specific radius are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to ante-partum, intra-partum, and post-partum patients, including labor management, fetal monitoring, and recovery.
- Care for newborns immediately following delivery, performing initial assessments and providing essential post-natal support.
- Assist with gynecological patient care as needed.
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently.
- Operate and document within the Epic/Stork electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide critical care interventions as required.
- Be prepared to float to Mother Baby, Pediatrics, or other adult medical-surgical floors as "helping hands" to support patient care needs within scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4-5 years of recent, acute care experience in a Labor & Delivery setting.
- Proficiency with Epic/Stork electronic medical record system.

- Strong clinical skills in obstetrics, including fetal monitoring, labor induction and augmentation, pain management, and postpartum hemorrhage management.

Licensing Requirements
