Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $2,488 per week in Buckhannon, WV

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Labor and Delivery / Mother Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: C-section experience required Ability to circulate C-sections when necessary Description: This nursing position is in a Labor and Delivery unit. The unit has 8 total beds: 4 labor beds and 4 postpartum beds. The nursery has an 8 crib capacity. Stabilization and transport for high-acuity patients is a part of the unit's protocol. There are 2 triage beds available, which can be used interchangeably with labor beds. The unit sees approximately 350 births per year, averaging 25-30 births per month. Ratios in the unit are 1:1 for labor and delivery and 1:4 for couplets. The unit utilizes the Centricity FHM System for fetal monitoring. Charge nurses are part of the permanent staff. OB techs are available from 8 am to 4 pm, with reduced coverage in the evenings. Weekend requirements include working at least 2 weekends per month. Call may be required due to low or high census situations. Staff members rotate through holiday work obligations. Scrubs are provided for the staff. The unit has tele capability if needed, though reading strips is not required for nurses. A respiratory therapist is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7, with limitations after hours. Staff typically work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm. C-section experience is mandatory, and nurses may need to circulate in the absence of the OR team. Floating to other departments may occur based on experience and comfort level. The unit primarily cares for patients 20 weeks and older. Nurses must be prepared for various gestational ages and conditions such as multiples and VBACs.
