Job Summary
Join our dedicated perinatal team as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse in Bozeman, Montana. This role is integral to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns in an acute care setting.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, focusing on patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Responsibilities include patient and family education, ensuring a supportive and safe environment throughout the birthing process and immediate postpartum period.
This position requires flexibility, including the willingness to float to the Mother Baby unit to care for couplets and to serve as a safety companion on other units as needed, contributing to overall patient safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases.
- Perform circulating duties within the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care as needed.
- Educate patients and families on various aspects of maternal and newborn care, including breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Monitor fetal well-being using electronic fetal monitoring and interpret findings accurately.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and participate in neonatal resuscitation efforts.
- Float to the Mother Baby unit to provide care for mothers and their newborns (couplets) as required.
- Serve as a safety companion on other hospital units when staffing needs arise.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Ensure compliance with DNV standards, Bozeman Health policies, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider certification.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Series Certificate of Completion or equivalent AWHONN approved course (Not required if primarily functioning as a Lactation RN).
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (Not required if primarily functioning as a Lactation RN).
- Competence in and willingness to practice modified primary nursing.
- Completion of two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education.
- If primarily functioning as a Lactation RN: Certification in Lactation Consulting/Counseling (CLC or IBCLC).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of Labor & Delivery experience.

- Call Requirements: On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational or patient needs.
- Weekend Rotations: Position may necessitate working weekends.

Licensing Requirements
- Montana Registered Nurse (RN) License.
