Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery team in Bozeman, Montana. This role involves providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to expectant mothers and their newborns throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The L&D RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and providing patient and family education. This position requires a commitment to a modified primary nursing model and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation (Assessment).
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis).
  • Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
  • Develop a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes (Plan of Care).
  • Implement the identified plan of care, employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Facilitate patient transitions and care during labor and delivery.
  • Act as a Charge Nurse as assigned.
  • Be willing to float to other departments as a safety companion when needed.
  • Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Attain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
  • Evaluate one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals in the conduct of nursing practice.
  • Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into all areas of practice.
  • Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • STABLE certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, with recertification required every 2 years.
  • Competence in and a willingness and ability to practice modified primary nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery, including antepartum, intrapartum, pre-operative, circulating, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) settings.

  • **Stroke Competency:**
    • Complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.
    • Participates in two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education within one year of hire.
    • Participates in one hour annually of cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education.
Shift Details

  • Shift Duration: 12 hours
  • Days per Week: 3
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 2026-08-19
  • On-call work may be required.
  • Weekend rotations may be required.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and potentially beyond a standard 40-hour workweek.
Licensing Requirements
  • Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure.
