Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $2,570 per week in Bronx, NY

Job Title: L&D RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 34.5 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Preferred EFM through NCC or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Must be able to circulate C-sections, must titrate drips such as Oxytocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin. Description: Department includes Labor and Delivery. The unit has 7 labor beds and 4 postpartum recovery room beds. There are 2 operating room suites available for C-sections. The unit has 4 triage beds. In 2023, there were 1,417 deliveries, averaging approximately 118 births per month. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for ratios: Antepartum 1:1-3; Intrapartum 1:1; Post-Partum 1:1-4. Common diagnoses include 15+ weeks, Pre-eclampsia, and Diabetes requiring insulin drip, along with Magnesium Sulfate for pre-term labor and Pre-eclampsia. The charge nurse does not usually take an assignment. Surgical techs are available on each shift; there are no nurse aides in this unit. An OB is in-house 24/7, and a pediatrician resident is on call at night. Midwives are also part of the staff. Anesthesia is available in-house 24/7. The NICU is adjacent to the Labor and Delivery unit. There are no tele techs; nurses should be able to identify basic and life-threatening rhythms but will verify with attending for patients in recovery after C-section. The EFM system used is Centricity Perinatal. Nurses self-schedule, with schedules made 4 weeks in advance, and are encouraged to remain flexible to cover gaps in permanent staffing. Weekend requirements are 4 weekend shifts per month or every other weekend. Holidays are included in the scheduling requirements. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to maternal care or postpartum may be necessary. Scrub color is royal blue. Unit-specific orientation includes 3 days with a preceptor and may involve 1 day of maternal care/postpartum training. The unit is classified as Trauma Level 2. Care is provided in an acute setting. Certification requirements include ACLS, BLS, and NRP.
