Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years LDRP experience License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NRP, intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring Must-Have: - Comfortable with all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for mother and baby. - Skills required include cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV starts/management, Pitocin administration, baby catching, APGAR, and basic breastfeeding education. Description: This position involves working in a labor and delivery environment with an average census of 60-80 births per month. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center. The unit consists of 12 LDRP beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 ORs, and a 10 bed Level II NICU. Patient ratios are 1:1 during labor, 1:2 for active labor, and 1:3 for couplets. The majority of patients are considered lower risk, typically 32 weeks and above, with a focus on conditions such as hypertension, magnesium administration, medication management for substance abuse, elevated BMI, and diabetes. Post delivery, patients remain in the same room for continued care. The nursing team is supported by two techs and available anesthesia, NNP, and Clients. Technology used includes EMR systems and specific IV pumps and monitors. The schedule includes a weekend rotation every 4th weekend and holiday expectations of every other holiday. RTO requests are approved for up to 7 days. The lead RN creates schedules on a 6-week rotation, provided 2 weeks prior to the beginning of each schedule cycle. Scrubs are provided for the role.
