Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NRP Preferred: Intermediate or Advanced FHM Must-Have: Experience in LDRP Comfortable attending deliveries independently Comfortable assisting with C-sections Ability to catch and transition newborns Experience in high-risk cases Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery. The unit has 34 total beds including 2 OR suites for C-sections and 2 triage beds. An average of 150-180 births occurs per month, with around 2,133 deliveries in 2022. The nurse-to-patient ratio follows AWHONN guidelines, with 1:2 for labor and delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets. Nurses are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin. A surgical tech and a patient care assistant are present on each shift. OB/GYN hospitalists and a neonatal nurse practitioner are available 24/7 for support. Anesthesia services are provided on a 24/7 basis. The unit utilizes a centralized perinatal electronic fetal monitoring system. Block scheduling is available upon request. Weekend requirements include working both Fri and Sat nights. There are rotating holiday requirements among permanent staff. Floating will occur between labor, delivery, and postpartum, but not to NICU or other departments. Scrubs are provided, and each nurse is assigned a locker. The manager encourages feedback and adaptability to unit workflows. This is a fast-paced environment focused on quality patient care. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment.
