Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: Level III Perinatal Care Experience Description: Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and a Level III Perinatal Center. Accreta Center of Excellence and an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility has 228 beds. Covid vaccine is required. Experience with high-risk mothers and newborns is mandatory. Knowledgeable in placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, and hysterectomies. Assist as a secondary nurse for C-section deliveries and circulate in vaginal deliveries. Provide surgical recovery and care for newborns. Manage massive transfusions and pre-eclampsia patients. Average of 280 deliveries per month. Patient ratios are 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum. Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines. Skills required include fetal monitoring, maternal assessments/interventions, and high-risk newborn/mother care post-delivery. Cervical exams for labor progression and OB triage experience are necessary. Able to assist with circulating C-sections and primary nursing for vaginal deliveries. Support on the unit includes charge nurses and clinical resource nurses. Phlebotomy and lab draws are shared roles with RNs. Other support includes respiratory therapy, a house supervisor, certified nurse midwives, and Client providers. OB anesthesia is onsite 24/7. A teaching hospital with Client residents, family practice doctors, and midwives. Charting system includes EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis. Fetal monitoring and epidural pumps are used. Travelers may float to the postpartum women’s care center. Inpatient women who have had procedures (non-pregnant) will be cared for by this unit. Every traveler will float first before others. Availability to work 7 days a week is required. Schedule may include every other weekend and holiday expectations based on start date. Every traveler is expected to comply with designated scrub colors provided by the facility.
