Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Women's Services Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7p-7a Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: NRP, BLS, ACLS, STABLE Must-Have: Must have 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience. Must have mother-baby experience. Must be able to attend deliveries and complete 1 hour of newborn care. Must be able to triage, circulate C-sections, and provide postpartum couplet care. Must have experience managing magnesium drips. Charge nurse experience is preferred. Description: Department includes 14 LDRP beds where patients stay in the same room. There are 2 operating room suites available for C-sections. Four triage beds are available for patient care. The unit sees approximately 90 births per month and 1200 births per year. Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines with a labor ratio of 1:1, and postpartum couplet care is 1:3. The triage ratio is usually 1:3, but may require adjustments as patient volume increases. Nurses are required to titrate drips, which include Pitocin, magnesium, and insulin protocols. Administrative supervisors are available on every shift, and charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Resource and triage nurses may start the shift with no patients, and resource nurses assist with breaks and attend deliveries. One CST and one CNA are scheduled per shift. An OB hospitalist and a neonatal NP are available 24/7, along with anesthesia support. There are no telemetry technicians; nurses have tele capabilities but typically transfer patients as needed. The unit uses an EFM system for monitoring. Weekend and holiday work requirements are based on unit needs, with no specific obligations for travel RNs. Floating to other departments may be required based on primary skill set. Travelers need separate transportation for floating assignments. Scrubs are issued by the facility, and there’s a no fingernail lacquer policy in effect. Additional unit orientation includes four shifts, focusing on C-sections, labor, and postpartum care. Compliance assignments must be completed prior to beginning work. The facility enforces a radius rule of 50 miles for candidate eligibility.
