Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 9 months Shift: Primarily Nights, with occasional Day shifts Hours per Shift: Varies Experience: Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience required in Labor and Delivery. License: Current license as a Registered Nurse. Certifications: Current BLS certification required. Must-Have: AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification must be obtained within six months of employment and recertified every two years. Description: Organizational Requirements: All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participation in E-Verify is required. Job Summary: The RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life. The RN will supervise and coordinate care with other disciplines. This position involves providing care in accordance with established guidelines. Standards of Behavior: The RN will be held accountable to professional standards and behavior. Responsibilities: Accurately charge for patients and unit supplies. Administer and control narcotics and medications. Administer IV fluids according to policy and procedure. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Communicate effectively with all members of the patient care team, including patients and families. Provide compassionate care acknowledging physiological, psychological, and developmental needs. Demonstrate correct techniques in the use of patient care equipment. Handle emergency situations promptly and professionally. Develop individual plans of care based on patient assessments. Document patient assessments, plans, interventions, and responses appropriately. Consult with other providers as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Implement established care plans and evaluate outcomes. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Provide accurate shift reports and manage information effectively. Perform complete assessments for each patient assigned. Provide patient and family education as appropriate. Demonstrate effective leadership by directing tasks to other care team members. Willingly perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting. The RN must demonstrate the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Participation in care with potential exposure to blood and body fluids is expected.
