Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $2,668 per week in Bangor, ME

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM Must-Have: - Charge experience preferred - Must have completed at least one assignment in a similar facility Description: Immediate start needed. Experience in Labor and Delivery required. This unit handles a variety of patient diagnoses including PIH, GDM, Pre-Eclampsia, Eclampsia, HELLP, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and drug addiction. Average number of deliveries per year is 1800. Typically, four scheduled events daily are performed. Patient ratios include 1:1 for cervical ripening, laboring, and active labor. Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum ratio is 3. Minimum staffing goal during shifts is six Registered Nurses, possibly five in case of call-out. Skills required include: - Titration of Pitocin - Fetal scalp electrodes - Cervical exams - Assisting with epidural placement - Management of insulin drips and magnesium drips - Providing neonatal resuscitation - Monitoring of IUPC and newborn care - Lactation support and safe skin-to-skin protocol Support on the unit includes an in-house Certified Surgical Technologist 24/7, a charge nurse, and a house supervisor. Anemia testing and lab drawing are facilitated by a phlebotomist. Fetal monitoring is available both at the bedside and at the nurses' station. Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and fetal monitoring equipment. Floating may occur to Mother-Baby, focusing on Antepartum, Postpartum, or occasionally Newborn Nursery responsibilities. Weekend rotations consist of working four out of eight weekend shifts on the schedule. No call is required, although picking up call may be a possibility. Holiday expectations involve rotation among staff. Scrubs provided on-site; color is navy. Six credits for scrub machine use allocated at the start of the shift. Street clothes are permitted for entering and exiting the facility.
