Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Bismarck, North Dakota

Start Date: 05-18-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule posted 6 weeks in advance; weekends every third weekend; holidays as needed (includes night shifts)

Hours per Week: 36

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional Labor & Delivery and postpartum nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
  • Continuously monitor fetal and maternal status using EFM (GE/Corometrics) and interpret strips during Phase I recovery for C-sections
  • Titrate IV drips safely (pitocin, magnesium, occasional insulin) and manage medication administration
  • Scrub and assist in C-sections and OB surgical procedures when needed
  • Perform triage assessments and manage the 3-bay triage area when required
  • Respond rapidly to obstetric emergencies including hemorrhage management and neonatal stabilization
  • Collaborate with OB, neonatology, anesthesia and unit charge nurse to deliver coordinated care
  • Document accurately in EPIC and participate in handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds
Education
  • Completed nursing program (ADN/BSN or equivalent) — BSN not required
  • Required certifications as listed under qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal assessment skills
  • Hands-on experience with GE/Corometrics EFM systems
  • Neonatal resuscitation and STABLE stabilization familiarity
  • Proven ability to manage obstetric hemorrhage (TXA, methergine, hemabate, cytotec)
  • Competence placing telemetry/monitoring patches and basic troubleshooting
  • Triage skills for rapid patient evaluation and disposition
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family education abilities
