This position supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. It is essential to coordinate care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Responsibilities include collecting relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. The RN analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues. There is a need to develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. The plan should be implemented, coordinating care delivery while employing strategies to promote health and ensure a safe environment. Evaluating progress toward attaining outcomes is a key function. Identifying outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation is necessary. The position requires collaboration with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in delivering patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Providing learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members is essential. The RN will directly provide health information to patients, families, and the treatment team. Participation in discharge planning is essential to ensure continuity of care. Duties may include appropriate delegation and coordination of responsibilities among healthcare team members.
