Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: LDRP RN (Labor and Delivery) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights, every other week Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (Advanced preferred), STABLE Must-Have: 3 years of experience in LDRP Description: Department has 7 Labor and Delivery beds. There are 12 Postpartum beds and 8 Surgical beds. One dedicated OR for C-Sections and two GYN surgical ORs are available. The unit includes a 3-bay triage area, averaging 17 patients per month. The department follows AWHONN guidelines for ratios: 1:1-2 for L&D and 1:2-3 for Postpartum couplets, 1:3-4 for surgical/medical. Common diagnoses include Obstetric, L&D, antepartum, triage, and postpartum conditions. Accepts patients 23+ weeks gestation. Treats gestational hypertension and diabetes. Occasionally takes higher-risk patients. Handles postpartum vaginal and C-section deliveries, hysterectomies, bladder repairs, and mastectomies. Experience should include titrating drips, including pitocin and magnesium. Common medications include procardia, labetalol, TXA, methergine, hemabate, cytotec, and cervidil. Charge Nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment, assisting with deliveries and APGAR scores. Travelers are not required to be Charge Nurses. An OB scrub tech is scheduled Monday through Friday, along with a unit clerk and occasional nursing students. RNs are preferred to scrub when necessary. OB and Neonatology providers are on call 24/7. Anesthesia services are available 24/7. Supplemental oxygen is provided as needed. The tele-monitoring system is remote-enabled with infrequent telemetry patients. RNs may need to read telemetry strips in Phase 1 recovery for C-sections. The department utilizes a GE/Corometrics EFM system. Shifts are rotational and scheduled 6 weeks in advance, considering sleep schedules. Weekend requirements are every third weekend, with holiday coverage as needed. Floating may include Pediatric, NICU, and other medical/surgical units as needed. Surgical scrubs are provided. High patient satisfaction is noted in the department. Radius rule: Candidates should be within 50 miles. All candidates must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Request for time off should be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days for a 13-week contract). Additional time off requests will not be approved after submission. Cancellation policy applies for shifts per contract. Charting system utilized is EPIC. BSN is not required. Trauma level is 2. Care setting is acute. Division is nursing. Shift notes indicate every other week, nights, and first to float. Required certifications include AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and BLS certification.
