Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: RN - Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (0600 - 1830) Experience: 3-4 years License: Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California Certifications: Current BLS certification; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification to be obtained within six months of employment; ACLS and STABLE preferred; NRP certification to be obtained within six months of employment. Must-Have: - Strong labor and delivery experience. - Basic computer skills. - Ability to prioritize tasks in a logical sequence. Description: Client is committed to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients. All associates are required to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. In addition to the general staff RN job description, the staff RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life. The RN will supervise and coordinate care with other disciplines. This position is represented by a labor organization. The RN will accurately charge for patients and unit supplies. The RN will administer and control narcotics and medications. The RN will administer IV fluids according to established policies and procedures. Demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service is expected. Effective communication with all members of the patient care team is essential. Compassionate care for patients acknowledging physiological, psychological, and developmental needs is required. The RN will demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of office and patient care equipment. Emergency situations must be handled in a prompt, precise, and professional manner. An individual plan of care will be developed specific to each patient's age, growth, and developmental status. Documentation of patient assessment, plan, interventions, and patient response in the clinical record must be completed appropriately. Outcomes for patient care will be evaluated and nursing care processes adjusted as necessary. Implementation of the plan of care must be demonstrated effectively. Maintaining expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements outlined by regulatory agencies is essential. The unit and patient care areas must be maintained in a clean, neat, and safe environment. Concise and accurate reports must be provided at the end of shifts or when transferring a patient. An appropriate and complete assessment for each patient assigned must be performed using assessment techniques specific to their age, growth, and developmental status. Nursing duties will be performed according to established guidelines and policies. Patient and family education must be provided and documented appropriately. Leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the healthcare team is expected. Willingness to perform other duties and innovations as assigned is essential. The position will entail frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing. The RN must demonstrate the ability to lift 50 pounds from the floor and have vision requirements including close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids is inherent to this role.
