Care is provided according to the philosophy and goals of the Department of Nursing. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all patients assigned. Utilizing Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care is essential in practice. The RN makes determinations regarding the patient's progress toward goals. Effective communication is maintained with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Care is tailored to the specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence in healthcare. Competence is demonstrated by the ability to apply scientific knowledge in practice. Care must be consistent with the interdisciplinary plan and grounded in Relationship Based Care. Continuous assessment of the patient's physical and psychosocial condition is necessary.
