Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $2,940 per week in Santa Maria, CA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS Certification, NRP Must-Have: C-section experience Description: The unit includes 14 labor and delivery beds and 6 triage beds. There are 2 operating room suites and 28 postpartum beds. The unit averages 250 births per month. Certifications required are ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and NRP for postpartum care. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 2 to 1 for laboring patients, following established guidelines. Postpartum care is provided at a ratio of 1 to 4 for couplet care. The fetal heart monitoring system in use is Fetal Link. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Charge nurses do not typically take patient assignments. OB technicians are available on both day and night shifts. Weekend work is required every other weekend. There is no on-call requirement, but standby may be needed. Holidays will be worked into the permanent staff rotation. Nurses wear navy scrubs for postpartum, while OB technicians and labor and delivery nurses wear seal blue, provided by the facility. There is no in-house OB/Neonatologist, but one is available if needed. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. The facility operates with 12-hour shifts. C-section circulating experience is required, and scrubbing experience is preferred. Nurses may float to postpartum, but postpartum staff will not float to labor and delivery. Orientation includes three shifts on the specific floor. Common diagnoses and types of patients include any gestational age, antepartum, high-risk deliveries, substance abuse issues, pre-eclampsia, and insulin-dependent diabetics. The cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for shorter assignments. This position operates in an acute care setting.
