Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $2,961 per week in Los Angeles, CA

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor & Delivery License: Required Certifications: - ACLS - AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring - BLS Certification - NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certificate Must-Have: - Experience in high-risk deliveries - Familiarity with pitocin, mag sulfate, insulin drips, etc. Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Labor & Delivery position. The unit consists of 12 labor and delivery beds and 10 triage beds. There are 12 antepartum beds. Expect approximately 200 births per month. Certifications required include NRP, BLS, ACLS, and advanced fetal monitoring. Nurse ratios follow AWOHNN guidelines. The fetal monitoring system in use is Fetal Link, with Cerner as the electronic medical record. Charge nurses take patient assignments as needed. Two OB techs are scheduled per shift to assist in deliveries and surgeries. The position requires weekend work every other week. Holidays require one major and two minor observances. Scrub color is provided and must be sterile. No vents are present in the unit. OB and neonatologist coverage is available 24/7. An IV team is not available, but respiratory therapy is provided from the NICU. Pharmacy support is also available 24/7. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM. C-section experience is required, including circulating and scrubbing. The RN will float between labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units. Orientation includes three shifts on the unit. The RN will care for patients 20 weeks and above with high-risk conditions. Common diagnoses include high blood pressure, multiples, diabetes, insufficient prenatal care, and substance abuse. Acrylic or overlay nails are not permitted during the assignment. The unit stands as one of the largest centers for births in the region. Travel experience is preferred. The cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
