Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Redwood City, CA
Start Date: 08-17-2026
End Date: 11-16-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend (Fri/Sat NOC, Sat/Sun days), holiday rotation every 3 major holidays
Hours per Week: 36
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring mothers and newborns, ensuring a safe and positive birthing experience
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, interpreting data to guide clinical decisions
- Assist with epidurals, deliveries, and emergency procedures in collaboration with anesthesia and OB/GYN teams
- Triage patients in OB triage, prioritizing care based on acuity
- Educate patients on lactation, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Coordinate with Stanford NICU nurses for deliveries involving high-risk infants
- Float to postpartum unit in rotation with permanent staff as needed
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ACOG guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
- Proficient in fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
- Skilled in use of Cerner PowerChart Maternity and Fetal Links
- Ability to manage high-stress situations and emergent deliveries
- Team player comfortable with floating and cross-training
