Shifts typically require working 3x12 or 4x12 hours. Candidates must have a minimum of 1.5 years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted on night shifts. May float to emergency services but will not take primary assignments. Nurses are expected to arrive early for orientation to the unit and supplies on the first shift. Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Guaranteed hours are based on the shift schedule, ensuring 36 to 48 hours per week. Experience in labor and delivery is essential. Candidates should be familiar with various obstetrical conditions and procedures. Skills needed include administration of blood products, use of fetal monitoring, and management of high-risk deliveries. Understanding postpartum care and newborn assessment is also required. Familiarity with charting systems is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical skills and a commitment to patient care. Compliance with specific healthcare standards is expected.
