Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $3,152 per week in Grass Valley, CA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Family Birthing Center (Labor and Delivery, Postpartum & Obstetrics) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - NRP - Advanced AWHONN (Advanced Fetal Monitoring) preferred Must-Have: Must be strong in an emergency and able to work independently. Not as many resources available during night shifts. Description: The role involves working in a Family Birthing Center with a focus on Labor and Delivery. The unit has 4 Labor and Delivery beds and 8 Mother-Baby beds. The ratio for Labor and Delivery is 1:2, and 1:1 for active deliveries. The Mother-Baby ratio is 1:4 for couplets. The shift hours are from 1845 to 0715. This position requires travelers to assist during peak holiday periods. Holiday time off will be considered, but not guaranteed. The unit supports a total of approximately 45 deliveries each month, including term and preterm deliveries. The facility does not handle high-risk cases and transfers mothers at or below 34 weeks. Newborns may require IV antibiotics and/or short-term oxygen. Regularly, there will be 2 RNs and 1 respiratory therapist present during every delivery. The work environment includes reporting at the bedside, and schedules will be posted 6 weeks in advance. The facility does not allow self-scheduling, but staff can make themselves available for extra shifts and trade shifts with others. There will be no floating to different departments. The orientation consists of 2 to 3 days on the floor with a preceptor. Common patient diagnoses include standard Labor and Delivery cases, as well as general GYN patients. Emergency medical team assistance is available during the day. Advanced resources like the pharmacy and respiratory therapy are available 24/7. Travelers need to be adaptable and prepared for emergency situations, especially during night shifts.
