Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $3,168 per week in Grass Valley, CA

License: Active nursing license required. Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Advanced AWHONN required. STABLE preferred. Must-Have: Strong emergency response skills and ability to work independently. Description: The position involves working in a Family Birthing Center with Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Obstetrics patients. The unit has a capacity for 4 Labor and Delivery beds and 8 Maternity beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 for Labor and Delivery (1:1 during active deliveries) and 1:4 for Maternity couplets. The facility follows a 12-hour night shift schedule from 1845 to 0715. Every other weekend is required. Holiday scheduling will often involve working 2 of the 3 major holidays. New hires will undergo floor-specific orientation for 2-3 days with a preceptor. The caseload consists of standard Labor and Delivery, with approximately 45 deliveries per month. Maternity care includes both term and preterm patients. Newborns may require IV antibiotics or short-term oxygen. General GYN patients will also be managed. Two registered nurses and one respiratory therapist are present for each delivery. Report is conducted at the bedside. Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance, with no self-scheduling. Travelers can access schedules from home and trade shifts with other staff. The facility does not allow floating; staff are responsible for either Labor and Delivery or Maternity. Emergency resources may be limited during the night shifts.
