Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN | Glendale, CA | ContractWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-volume Women’s Health unit in Glendale. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting both L&D and postpartum care.
Position Details- Title: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN
- Location: Glendale 91204-2508
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights
- Schedule: Every Other Weekend (4 shifts per 4 weeks)
- Employment Type: Contract
Unit Overview- L&D Beds: 10 beds + 2 OR suites
- Triage: 2 beds
- Postpartum: 18 beds
- Birth Volume: ~130 births per month
- EMR: Cerner
- Fetal Monitoring: OBIX
Patient Ratios- L&D:
- 1:1 (active labor)
- 1:2 (general)
- Postpartum:
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care for laboring mothers and postpartum patients
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections (scrub, circulate, and recovery required)
- Monitor fetal heart tracings using OBIX system
- Support postpartum recovery and newborn care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy (24/7 support)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Requirements- Active RN License (California) – Required
- BLS, ACLS, NRP – Required
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) – Required
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience (travel experience preferred)
- Strong experience with C-section procedures (scrub, circulate, recover)
Work Environment- Charge Nurse: Shared between L&D and Postpartum
- Support Staff: Scrub techs available in L&D
- RT & Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- No IV team
Schedule & Additional Info- Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts in a 4-week period
- Call Requirement: None
- Holidays: 1 major + 1 minor required
- Floating: Primarily L&D to Postpartum (based on need)
- Orientation: 3 shifts
- Scrubs: Provided
Patient Population- Deliveries from 23 weeks and above
- Mix of low to high-risk pregnancies
- Conditions include:
- Antepartum complications
- Hypertension
- High-risk cases (transferred if needed)
- Supported by perinatology services
