Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Pass/Fail exam during orientation. - Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience. - Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios. Description: The unit follows a radius rule for candidates. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract. Registered Nurses are required to pass an open book exam on skills learned during orientation. A score of 90% or higher is required to pass. The department includes 15 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum beds each. Common patients include those in obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical gynecology, and patients with hypertension or diabetes during pregnancy. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia. Nurses do not float unless in critical staffing situations, and floating would only be to sit or perform tasks. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who takes an assignment. Registered Nurses are not required to interact with respiratory equipment beyond troubleshooting. There are no Tele/Monitor Techs in this unit; Registered Nurses must read their own strips. The unit has 12-hour shifts, scheduled by management. Weekend work is required every other week. Holiday work may be required if there is a need. No call or standby requirement exists. The unit is recognized for high patient care standards and experience scores. Breastfeeding-friendly practices are in place. Requests for time off must be provided upfront, and additional requests will not be approved after submission. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required.
