Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years required License: Compact license required Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Epic Experience required Description: Locals are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. All facilities recognize active compact licenses. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience. Not accepting first-time travelers. The position requires Epic experience. Certifications required are BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and ACLS (preferred). Patient diagnoses include labor and preterm labor. The unit has 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrubbing, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk labor and delivery. Special procedures include blood and blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and the use of cooling/warming blankets. Familiarity with drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate is necessary. Attending all deliveries and high-risk deliveries is required. The role also involves GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery. The staffing ratio is 1:1-3. Floating to postpartum and NICU based on skill set may be required. Candidates must have experience with the administration of blood and blood products, anticoagulation therapy, and antihypertensives. Assisting with high-risk deliveries and circulating for C-sections are also key responsibilities. The facility sees 200-300 births per month. Other essential skills include managing insulin drips, recognizing isolation precautions, labor and delivery, and magnesium sulfate therapy. Maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC), pain assessment, recovering C-sections, performing sterile vaginal exams, and triaging obstetrical patients are required skills. Candidates must be willing to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment. If required, communication devices needed for duties will be provided at no cost to the candidate. Travelers will need to submit references covering one year within the last three years. Travelers may be expected to respond to floating requirements. Travelers must commit to working specified holiday shifts. All requests for time off or specific scheduling must be made up front.
