Description:
The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery.
Two years of relevant nursing experience is required.
Candidates must have experience with Epic charting systems.
The nurse will be responsible for patient assessments, assisting with delivery, and post-operative care.
The patient population includes adolescents, infants, and adults experiencing labor and preterm labor.
The unit has eight labor rooms and four triage rooms.
Special procedures include blood product administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, and use of epidural pumps.
The nurse will attend all deliveries, including high-risk cases, and manage antepartum and postpartum care.
The staffing ratio in the unit is 1:1 to 1:3.
Travelers may be expected to float to other units based on their skills.
Candidates must be flexible and manage care in various high-pressure situations.
The role requires administration of medications such as heparin and magnesium sulfate.
Maintenance of central lines and managing pain assessments will also be part of the responsibilities.
This position requires a proactive approach to patient care and interdisciplinary teamwork.
References from previous supervisors are required for compliance.
Effective communication and teamwork are critical in this role.
Nurses will also engage in patient education and support.
