Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), every other weekend required with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in high-volume facilities with 300+ births per month
• Certifications: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate (or C-EFM), and NRP required
• Proficiency in circulating for C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
• Epic charting experience required
• Comfort with double labor assignments and managing high patient acuity
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced in similar high-volume settings
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Patient Population & Procedures

This unit provides comprehensive care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks gestation and greater, including all intrapartum services and high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. The Birthing Care Unit features an obstetrical triage area for patient screening and routine outpatient procedures including antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, and medication administration. The unit performs scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures. With an average daily census of 20 patients, 30-40 admissions, and 40 visits per day across 20 rooms, this is an exceptionally busy and dynamic environment.
