Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience required. Highly preferred with 5 years of high-risk experience. Must have current supervisory references. Must pass clinical review. License: Must hold a valid compact license. Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP. Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate. Must-Have: Experience in high acuity and high pace environment. Ability to function as a Baby Nurse during delivery. Experience in circulating and providing newborn care, including eye care and vitamin K injections. Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Must float to postpartum and antepartum as required. Description: This role involves providing care in a high-risk, high-volume labor and delivery setting. Candidates should have experience with midwifery clients and private obstetricians. Experience in adult recovery services supporting substance recovery is valued. Candidates will use electronic fetal monitoring systems during patient care. Daily census ranges from 15 patients with approximately 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit has 31 rooms and 31 beds. Candidates must be capable of managing high-risk antepartum cases and performing newborn assessments. Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, conducting assessments, and administering medications like magnesium sulfate and insulin. Experience with breastfeeding support and lactation is preferred. Candidates will need to comprehend and act upon abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. It is necessary to adhere to staffing guidelines. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services such as pharmacy and social services. The facility may require nurses to float to sister facilities or between units as needed. Flexibility in schedule and willingness to adapt to unit needs is essential for success in this role.
