Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery in Machias, Maine. This is a 13-week contract position focused on providing comprehensive, individualized nursing care to patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal periods, as well as post-operative gynecology patients.
Working collaboratively under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role emphasizes clinical competency, sound nursing judgment, patient education, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide holistic, individualized nursing care to patients on the Labor & Delivery unit, encompassing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-op gynecology care.
Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate all assigned patient care, ensuring age-appropriate interventions.
Demonstrate clinical competency and sound nursing judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery.
Educate patients and families on relevant health information and care plans.
Adhere strictly to all Standards of Nursing Practice and hospital policies, including those pertaining to confidentiality, patient rights, and professional conduct.
Manage unit-specific supplies and equipment effectively.
Promote a collaborative and positive teamwork environment with physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital departments.
Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the quality of patient care.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year of acute care Registered Nurse experience.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Current STABLE certification.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination as mandated by state regulations.
