Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $3,431 per week in Nampa, ID

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Women's Services - Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery License: Active Registered Nurse license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: Must have experience in Labor and Delivery. Must have experience with magnesium administration. Experience with postpartum couplet care is preferred. Ability to attend deliveries and complete 1 hour of newborn care. Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required. Description: The unit follows AWHONN staffing standards for ratios. One nurse is assigned per laboring patient unless there are two cervical ripening patients. Postpartum care is provided for three couplets. Triage is managed with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3, with the potential to utilize a resource nurse if the patient load increases. The unit has 14 labor and delivery beds and two operating room suites for cesarean sections. RNs will circulate and recover patients in the OR. The hospital supports an average of 90 births per month. Common patient diagnoses include hypertension requiring magnesium, gestational diabetes, and conditions needing medical intervention and pain control. The population served is diverse with varying backgrounds and healthcare needs. Nurses are required to titrate medication drips, including pitocin, magnesium, and insulin. There is an administrative supervisor on every shift. Charge RNs do not take patient assignments but are responsible for overseeing staff and operations during the shift. Resource nurses assist with breaks and attend deliveries. The unit has certified surgical technologists and nursing assistants scheduled per shift. OB hospitalists and pediatric nurse practitioners are available 24/7. Anesthesia services are available around the clock with respiratory therapy support when needed. The facility utilizes electronic fetal monitoring systems and does not have dedicated telemetry technicians. Nurses typically handle their own patient monitoring, and there is a protocol for escalating care when necessary. Shifts are scheduled with flexibility, though block scheduling is not guaranteed. Weekend and holiday requirements are based on unit needs, with no minimum staffing obligations for traveling nurses. No on-call or standby requirements are expected. Traveling nurses may float to various facilities within a close geographical area based on patient care needs. Client-issued scrubs are required, and there is a policy regarding personal grooming standards. Traveling pairs must have two vehicles for separate assignments. Compliance training and system assignments must be completed prior to starting the position. Cancellation policies allow for shifts to be canceled by the client with appropriate notice.
