Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Valid RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, FHMS Must-Have: Previous charge experience Experience with patient ratios of 1:2 in labor and 1:3 in antepartum Experience with electronic health record systems Description: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. The successful candidate will have experience in acute care high-risk labor and delivery. Candidates will be expected to float between units as needed. Some weekend shifts will be required. The position does not require on-call duties. The expected patient ratios are 1:2 in labor and 1:3 in antepartum. Knowledge in managing high-risk cases such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, and multiples is essential. Candidates should be familiar with active management of laboring patients, induction, and augmentation. Experience in recognizing and handling maternal emergencies is crucial. The facility conducts between 200-300 births per month. The daily census averages 9 deliveries, and we have 25 rooms available for patient care. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams including IV, Physical Therapy, and Social Services. This position requires the ability to assist with high-risk deliveries and circulates for C-sections. Candidates should have experience with the use of internal and external fetal monitoring. They must be proficient in starting and maintaining IVs, as well as administering medication such as magnesium sulfate and insulin drips. Strong assessment skills for both mothers and newborns are necessary. The Registered Nurse will provide education and support to families during the perinatal period. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing situations are key components of this role. Travelers may be expected to float between facilities as needed. Refusal to float may impact hours and assignments. References are required within the compliance process prior to the start date.
