Location: Seattle, WA
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour schedule, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; schedule posted every 6 weeks; every other weekend and holidays as needed
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, high-acuity labor and delivery care for a high-volume unit
- Circulate for C-sections and support in the OR with sterile technique and team coordination
- Function as the Baby Nurse at delivery — immediate newborn stabilization and continued care until transfer
- Perform newborn assessments, eye prophylaxis and Vitamin K administration
- Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and intervene as needed
- Administer and manage critical medications (e.g., magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, heparin, oxytocin, terbutaline) safely
- Collaborate with midwifery and private OB teams, anesthesia, respiratory, pharmacy and social services
- Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity of care and accurate charting
- Float between postpartum and antepartum units and support sister campuses when needed
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (ability to work in Washington; compact licensure honored at Swedish facilities)
- Minimum 3 years experience in high-acuity, high-pace Labor & Delivery (3-5 years required; 5 years high-risk strongly preferred)
- Previous travel nurse experience required — unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Current BLS and NRP required; ACLS and AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate preferred
- Must have supervisory references and proof of required certifications at time of submission
- Must pass clinical review and provide NURSYS verification prior to placement
- Comfort with floating to postpartum/antepartum and working every other weekend and holidays as needed
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in electronic fetal monitoring and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart patterns
- Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization in delivery room
- Skilled Epic charting and clinical documentation
- Ability to circulate for C-sections and assist with high-risk vaginal deliveries (forceps/vacuum)
- Proficient with IV therapy, starting/maintaining drips including insulin and magnesium sulfate
- Familiarity with epidural/general anesthesia workflows and postoperative recovery
- Breastfeeding/lactation support and postpartum care including fundus/lochia management
- Comfort working in fast-paced, high-volume settings and following AWHONN guidelines
