Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of two years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale, Neonatal Resuscitation, Fetal Heart Monitor Course Must-Have: Telemetry competency Description: The RN performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The RN is delegated an assignment by the coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This is done in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator as evidenced by documentation in the Patient Care Record. Direct observation by the Patient Care Manager and patient evaluations of care serve as additional evidence of performance. The RN is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Patient Care Manager. Additional job duties may be assigned as needed. Performance expectations include: Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Showing knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Possessing the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interpreting the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements. Providing care needed according to age-specific needs. Documenting thoroughly, concisely, and in a timely manner. Communicating pertinent patient information to all health care team members. Maintaining clinical skills while staying current in skills, equipment, and certifications. Communicating effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adhering to and promoting established values, such as customer service, safety, and compliance standards. Demonstrating proficiency in interpreting fetal monitor strips and carrying out appropriate interventions. Assisting in the preparation of patients and physicians during vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Assisting anesthesia as needed throughout procedures in the operating room. Demonstrating knowledge and skills to care for patients recovering from various types of anesthesia. Maintaining the sterile field and assisting in surgical procedures as needed. Maintaining nursing skills necessary to care for antenatal, intrapartal, postpartum, and newborn patients. Interacting effectively and building respectful relationships with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. Following policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Meeting the mental and physical demands required for this role, including the ability to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
